This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.
Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No Do you support the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade?
The government doesn't have the right to dictate our personal health care decisions.
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
No Do you support a decrease in income taxes in order to balance the budget?
Yes Do you support a wealth tax in order to pay for public programs?
I believe the ultra rich should be taxed the same as the middle class. I also believe that social security tax should not stop at $168,000. If we don't allow a tax break on SS for the bottom 10%. Why should there be a cap on the top?
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals?
I believe if you give money to a candidate, it should be recorded and open to all to see. As a voter we have the right to know who is supporting our candidates. Dark money, corporate money and Citizens United has corrupted our campaigning and election system and need to be removed from our campaigning system!! America also needs to do a full overhaul of how campaigning system, to how long campaigning is allowed and how much money people are allowed to receive! I believed to be fair, every candidate should receive the same amount of money from the government and only be allowed to campaign for an excess of three months!
No Do you support protecting government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
There is never a reason for people in power to be judged at a different standard than any normal citizen. No one should be above the law.
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
The need for new technology is always expensive. I just think there needs to be some oversites and budgetary controls. If we cannot protect our country, then we are in real trouble. We will be very vulnerable to any crazy dictator out there, like Putin.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth (e.g. grants, tax incentives)?
Yes Do you support the federal government increasing funding for affordable housing programs?
Yes Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation?
The federal reserve has only one tool to help control inflation. That is to raise interest rates, which leads to loss of job and increases the cost of debt, usually upon those who can least afford it. There are other options that the government should consider like making sure corporations are not allowed to price gouge customers for groceries and all other goods and to put a cap on rent prices. Between COVID creating an inflation issue and our also capitalistic form of finance in America, a storm has been created that will need a lot of extra help to control!
Yes Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt?
It benefits us all to have an educated population. Government should do more to make education affordable. Students need to be taught or better informed about the difference between grants and student loans and encouraged, even if it takes them longer to graduate by taking grants instead of loans, that is the path they should take! No one should have the burden of paying for their education, for the rest of their life.
No Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls?
No, because we do not have a problem with voter fraud. So why create another hurdle for a voter to jump through to vote. I believe we should have a government holiday to vote. No one should have to miss work to vote. Voting should be made as easy as possible. Of course, we have to have some rules and regulations, but when we make it so hard for people to register and vote we will have less and less turn out every year. Unfortunately, I believe that is exactly what some people want.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal government allowing permits for drilling on public lands?
The government has always supported new technology helping it to get off the ground. That should be the norm. But our public parks should not be contaminated with drilling, fracking and running pipelines across. We cannot allow the parts of our beautiful country, that have been saved for generations, to be ruined because we refuse to find better and cleaner sources of energy.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation (e.g. red flag laws, boyfriend loopholes)?
Gun deaths are at a epidemic level. Children and the parents of those children are terrified to be sent to school. Most gun owners want reasonable gun laws. I want automatic, assault weapons, bump stocks, ghost guns and multi ammo packs banded permanently. Those items are not anything a regular gun owner would use to hunt or for protection. I stand with all police officers and veterans who say there is no need for weapons of war, to be in our homes or on the streets of America!
Yes Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All?
Yes Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)?
Yes Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs?
We pay more for drugs in this country, have shorter maternity / family leave and pay more for healthcare without the benefit of better health outcomes and carry more healthcare debt than any other developed country. Healthcare debt is one the of the leading reasons for bankruptcies. I believe high drug cost is mostly due to Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM). It would help if the government got involved.
Yes Do you support increasing security along the southern US border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship, regardless of their immigration status?
I believe we need a better comprehensive immigration policy. This should include more judges, more green cards/work visas, so immigrants can work immediately. A system that takes into consideration productive immigrants who are upstanding individuals, who have come here or were born here and should give them a path to citizenship. As a first generation American, I find it reprehensible how immigrants are treated in this country. Everyone should be treated with humanity and respect. Our immigration policies should be cruelty-free. The majority of migrants are hardworking good people, seeking a better life. We should be more welcoming because we are a country of immigrants, who have fled from dangerous and hopeless situations. We should never send people back to places where their lives are in danger!
Yes Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts?
Yes Do you support the US providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine?
Ukraine is important to world order with respect to the sovereignty of our country's borders. The invasion of Ukraine is an opening to World War III, and Europe knows that very well. By supporting Ukraine we're keeping the gateway to World War III closed. If Putin takes Ukraine, he will not stop there. He will act as Hitler did in World War II, when he said he would stop with Czechoslovakia and then went into Poland and kept going.
Yes Do you generally support increased regulations on social media companies (e.g. Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.)?
The large media companies develop algorithm rhythms that are unhealthy and collect personal information which they sell for a profit. This is unacceptable. They can do much better, but they need oversite and to be held accountable. I believe we have put our children in terrible and dangerous situations because of social media and it has harmed our society as a whole, in many ways.
*Expand all programs for the Disabled, Elderly and poor, all finally give healthcare to all Americans. *Balance the budget by making the ultra-rich pay their share of taxes, so needed programs for the most vulnerable will no longer be threatened. *Freedom to make healthcare decisions over our own bodies and our children's bodies. *Ban Assault weapons and all weapons of war on our streets and in our homes *Equal Rights for LGBTQ and minorities. *Cruelty free immigration and border reform. *Save the Earth No one should live below the poverty line in the USA; while the number of Billionaires has doubled since 2000.
